Although only launched in May, and the date not yet December, Microsoft's search engine Bing has revealed the "top Bing searches in 2009" under Twitter-esque title of "top Bing trending topics".

"If you're curious how we determined the top searches", says Bing in a blog post (we weren't, assuming it was obvious), "we analysed billions of search queries and developed the list based on searches made with Bing".

The 6-month stats reveal a people-heavy most popular list, with deceased pop star Michael Jackson taking top spot:

Top Bing trending topics:

1) Michael Jackson

2) Twitter

3) Swine Flu

4) Stock Market

5) Farrah Fawcett

6) Patrick Swayze

7) Cash for Clunkers

8) Jon and Kate Gosselin

9) Billy Mays

10) Jaycee Dugard
