State-of-the-art "First ELSE" Linux-based touchphone unveiled

"Revolutionary" Emblaze-Access project finally gets official

24 November 2009 10:48 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

The "First ELSE", described as a new "state-of-the-art mobile device" from Israeli design house Emblaze Mobile has finally been unveiled at a London launch event which Pocket-lint attended.

The First ELSE focuses on a "unique user experience" with the claim being that a user can interact with the device's features - such as phone, GPS or camera - "in the same way they interact with the equivalent stand-alone devices used on a daily basis outside of the mobile experience".

Powered by the Linux-based "ELSE Intuition", a new mobile platform jointly developed by software co Access, the First ELSE can run multiple applications simultaneously with its TI OMAP 3430 mobile processor.

Specs for the new UMTS/HSDPA handset include a 3.5-inch, 854 x 480 resolution capacitive touchscreen display with tactile feedback, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a 5-megapixel camera, GPS and A-GPS as well as proximity, ambient light and tilt sensors.

The device is expected to go on sale to consumers in 2010 - we will keep you posted.

  • The list of features is so impressive that it does seem like a "unique user experience".
Guess we will find out in few months.

  • Where I can buy this mobile on Internet? Posted by Tina, Spanish
  • @ Tina:
The phone is not on sales yet, not before the 2nd quarter of 2010 as written in the article.

    @ Adam:
I have just browsed the official website of First Else ( www.firstelse.com ) and found out a few very interesting features. E.g. When you cannot answer a call, you can order the cellphone to tell (by recorded voice mail) you will call back in XX mins. It's quite smart as it save your effort to send back a SMS saying 'I will call You back' (but of course, these advanced features can be complicating for others, it all depends on who you are).
i guess that's an example of unique user experience?
