Medion launches dirt cheap VIA notebook

£400 will buy you almost anything these days, laptop included

Students and those looking for a laptop for basic word processing and internet surfing might do well to check out Medion computer's latest budget offering.

Normally found in Aldi stores at dirt cheap prices, the company has launched a budget laptop for under £400.

The new MAM 2080, is one of the first laptops to feature the new VIA C7-M processor.

The budget model includes a 15-inch TFT screen, dual layer DVD rewriter, integrated VIA PN800 64MB graphics, 40GB hard disk, 256MB of DDR-RAM, 4 USB ports, LAN 10/100, and 56k modem in a model that measures 329mm x 277mm x 34mm and weighs 2.4kg.

Medion's MAM 2080 comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and Medion's Home Cinema Suite. Also included is Ahead NERO Burning ROM 6, NERO Recode 2-SE and eTrust AntiVirus with 90 days' worth of free updates.

Medion's MAM 2080 is priced at £399.99 and is one sale from 10th April in Woolworths stores.
