Time to bash the bullies

16 November 2009 0:00 GMT / By Ian Hughes

The world is changing at an alarming rate. Technology is making our lives faster, better and easier to manage and most of us can’t imagine where we’d be without a mobile phone and an internet connection.

But, as always, there’s a price to pay.

Bullying isn’t about the bigger kids grabbing the little kids by the scruff of the neck and shaking them until their dinner money falls out of their pockets any more.

These days, cowards who use any means necessary to inflict anguish on their victims can subject people to prolonged campaigns of intimidation and humiliation. SMS, email, social networking, YouTube – they’re all used to devastating effect by bullies, and it’s time to do something about it.

This week is Anti-Bullying Week and this is one site that every parent should bookmark. It gives loads of great advice on spotting signs of bullying and what to do about it.
