A recent study by Nokia and Kings' College London Department of Twin Research has examined the music taste of nearly 4000 twins.
The results boil down to suggest up to 50% of music taste has already been decided by our genes, although "on the whole, musical taste is determined just as much by nature as it is by specific individual experiences".
"As much as 50% of our musical taste being predetermined, it appears there is a strong argument for the existence of 'music genes'", says Adrian North, professor of psychology at Heriot Watt University.
Nature's influence is said to be strongest on the appreciation of pop, classical and hip-hop music, and weakest when it comes to country, hit play on the video above for more.
