Brighter and sharper but on the quiet

Those looking to invest in either the Dell or Apple 30-inch displays, will have an even harder task on their hands.

Apple has quietly updated the specs of its 30-inch cinema display to be inline with Dell's screen offering of the same size, the Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have informed Pocket-lint that Apple has changed the specs in the US, but not here in the UK.

Specific changes include brightness being boosted to 400 cd/2 (from 270 cd/m2). Also, the contrast ratio is now 700:1 (from 400:1).

The price in both countries remains the same; $2499 in the US and £1799 in the UK.

We aren't sure why Apple hasn't updated the specs in the UK, but one idea put forward is that the company has simply yet to update its product page on the UK website.

We will keep you posted.
