Boxee sets date for beta, promises new features

Boxee has confirmed that it will be coming out of Alpha and going into Beta on 7 December before a full launch in January at CES.
Boxee, who describes itself as the "first social media centre" to play media from your computer and other devices in your home network" also enable you to "connect you to various Internet sources", allowing you to stream or download movies, tv shows, music and photos.
"The date is set for the release of the Boxee Beta. On December 7th at 7pm we are going to have an unveiling event at the Music Hall of Williamsburg", the company said in a statement on their website before confirming a public beta would be live at the start of CES 2010 on the 7 January.
According to the company, the "Boxee Beta will look, feel and behave differently from the Alpha".
New features promised include a new user interface, improved navigation, the ability to search for TV shows and movies as well as a user controlled queue and more.
We will bring you more on the new features presumably for the Windows and Mac versions in December.
