Mamiya launches 33-megapixel DL33

23 March 2009 11:32 GMT / By Verity Burns

Mamiya has announced the next in its high-end range of digital cameras, the DL33.

The camera boasts 33 megapixels, a 3.5-inch high contrast touch screen and a sensor twice the size of full frame DSLR cameras, allowing for larger pixels for richer pictures.

The DL33 combines the Mamiya 645AFD III camera system with the Aptus-II 7 Digital Back from Leaf, the former featuring a new coreless motor for faster, more accurate autofocusing and the latter able to capture images at up to 1 frame per second.

It also boasts 16-bit capture, 12-stop dynamic range and an ISO range of 50-800.

The DL33 comes with Leaf Capture 11.2 software, but you'll also be able to open the RAW files in programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS3/4, Lightroom 2 and Apple Aperture 2.

Now is the time to hold on to your wallets. The Mamiya DL33 will retail for $19,999, but to take the sting off Mamiya are offering a little incentive for those thinking of forking out the cash. During April and May, US photographers who buy the camera direct from Mamiya will receive a free AF 55mm f2.8 or AF 150mm f3.5 lens, worth $1100.

Head over to the Mamiya website for full details.
