Panasonic has launched, the Lumix G Vario HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S., a standard interchangeable zoom lens that adopts the Micro Four Thirds standard. The lens features an inner focus direct-drive linear motor for focusing, which allows for silent operation of its AF system, a wide and long zoom range of 14-140mm (28-280mm 35mm equivalent) and Panasonic's "Mega Optical Image Stabiliser" to prevent blurring.
When mounted on the newly announced DMC-GH1 Lumix G Micro System camera, the new lens also allows use of the advanced contrast AF system, which includes a face recognition function.
Seven blades will give the aperture a rounded shape that produces a smooth effect in out-of-focus areas, and the multi-coated lens minimises ghosting and flare.
Pricing and availability is yet to be announced but we'll get it to you when we have it. Cameras
