Blurb launches Photography.Book.Now competition

Win $25,000 for your self-published photography book

Blurb has launched the second Photography.Book.Now International Juried Competition, offering $25,000 for the best self-published photography book.

Noted photography book expert Darius Himes will serve as lead judge for the second year, with a panel of editors, gallery curators, publishers and photographers to be announced.

"We were truly blown away by the amazing and inspiring range of work we saw in the competition’s first year," said Himes.

"We expect submissions this year will be even more spectacular".

In 2008, more than 2,000 photography books were submitted for
consideration to the first Photography.Book.Now competition.

However it was Beth Dow, a professional photographer from Minneapolis, that was awarded the $25,000 grand prize for her project, "In the Garden" - a portfolio of large platinum-palladium prints that examined tensions of mass, light, and perspective in highly cultivated landscapes.

Entries will be accepted in three categories – Fine Art, Editorial, and Commercial - with a deadline of the 16 July.

As well as the $25,000 for the grand prize winner, first-prize winners in the different categories will receive a private portfolio review with members of the judging panel in the category in which they submitted.

There will also be Photography.Book.Now meet-ups in the coming year, in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, London and Paris, with an aim of bringing the photography community together.
