But a Japan-only release

Epson has announced a new version of the R-D1 rangefinder camera ahead of PMA next week.

Placing the news on its Japanese website, the new R-D1x model will keep most of the features of its predecessor include a six megapixel APS-C sensor.

However it adds a larger 2.5-inch screen, support for a higher-capacity SD-HC card and a removeable handgrip.

The new rangefinder will start shipping in April at a price to be confirmed, but Epson UK has confirmed this will be a Japan-only release and there are no plans for a European launch as yet.
