With an extreme angle of view up to 100 degrees

Leica has announced the addition of the Super-Elmar-M 18mm f/3.8 ASPH lens to its range.

Larger than a standard lens, it boasts an extreme angle of view of up to 100 degrees and as such is aimed mainly at architecture and landscape photography.

The lens corresponds to a universal 24mm wide angle lens when mounted on a Leica M8 model and a super wide angle lens when mounted on an analogue Leica M model.

It also features eight lens elements, one of which boasts two aspherical surfaces for an "outstanding optical performance", and a patented, spacesaving lens hood to keep the lens as compact as possible.

Pricing and availability is yet to be announced but we'll keep you updated.
