Pretec debuts 64GB and 100GB CompactFlash cards

World's largest CompactFlash cards

26 September 2008 16:27 GMT / By Verity Burns

Pretec has announced two new CF cards - a 64 GB and a 100GB - the latter of which the company claims to be the highest capacity CF card in the world.

Pretec previously held the title for the highest capacity CompactFlash card with its 48GB card, but it has upped the ante by more than doubling that capacity.

The two 233X CF cards have access speed of up to 35MB/s, and have metal housing that makes them at least 10 times more durable than a typical CF card.

The Pretec 233X cards will be demonstrated using Leaf high-performance cameras at Photokina 2008.

American pricing for the Pretec 233X 64GB is $399 (around £200) and is available in the US now. The 233X 100GB is expected to start shipping by the end of 2008 - pricing is yet to be finalised. We'll get European pricing and dates to you when we get them.
