Kodak unveils the EasyShare Z1485 IS camera. CompactCameras

Kodak has unveiled the EasyShare Z1485 IS digital camera at Photokina 2008, and it certainly packs some spec into its compact body.

The point and shoot boasts 14 megapixels of resolution, a 5x optical zoom lens with image stabiliser and is capable of taking 16:9 HD pictures and video at high ISO up to 6400. There is the option for users to take photos in automatic mode, or manually if they would rather adjus the settings themselves.

Those opting for automatic mode will have the help of Kodak's Smart Capture feature to get settings tailored to the surroundings. For example, intelligent scene detection will choose automatically between the seven scene modes for the best that suits the current conditions. The intelligent capture will automatically set camera settings such as exposure, focus and ISO, while the intelligent image processing will reduce noise and clear up dark shadows for clear images.

Other features you'll find is a panoramic stitch mode, on-camera editing, text and sound tagging, and the ever-present face detection technology. You'll even be able to put together your own slideshow from your images - complete with sound effects and creative transitions.

There is 32MB of internal memory on the Z1485 IS but with 14 megapixels, that won't get you very far. This can of course be expanded via SDHC card.

Pricing and availability in the UK is yet to be announced, but we'll get it to you when we have it.
