Sigma announces 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM lens

Latest large aperture standard zoom lens

Sigma has launched the 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM - its latest large aperture standard zoom lens.

This new compact lens covers focal lengths from 24mm and its optical design provides an overall length of 94.7cm.

Sigma positions this lens in the "general photography" range, citing it as suitable for photography such as portraiture and landscapes.

An inclusion in many of its lenses, the Super Multi Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, while ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass, two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and three aspherical lenses correct of all types of aberrations.

This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) mechanism, ensuring a quiet and high speed AF as well as full time manual focusing capability. It features a minumum focusing distance of 38cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.3.

Included with the lens is a petal-type hood to block out any unwanted light.
