Sigma announces EM-140 DG Macro flash

Dual flash tubes for different effects

23 September 2008 10:30 GMT / By Verity Burns

Sigma Corporation has announced the new EM-140 DG Macro Flash designed for use with Sony and Pentax SLR cameras.

The new flash works with both AF 35mm film and digital SLR cameras, and features dual flash tubes which can fire simultaneously or separately, depending on the effect you are looking for.

Using just one flash tube will create shadow and give a 3D effect, while opting for both flash tubes and selecting shadowless mode will take pictures in fine detail, something Sigma has said is "extremely effective for scientific and medical applications".

Featuring a guide number of 14 with ISO 100, the flash features a number of functions photographers may find useful, such as the modelling flash function. This enables users to check for reflections and shadows before actually taking the flash picture.

The EM-140 DG can also act as master for a wireless flash function, with the EF-530 DG SUPER serving as a slave unit for creating fine shadow details.

There are no details on release date or price as yet, but expect these to trickle through shortly.
