Leica releases M8 firmware update 1.102

Addresses image quality problems

22 September 2008 19:08 GMT / By Verity Burns

Leica has released firmware update version 1.102 for the M8 digital camera.

This version addresses the image quality problems reported by users, resulting from the M8 sensor sensitivity for infrared light.

Previously, the angle of the light occasionally led to magenta-coloured offsets near the image edges with focal lengths from 16 to 35mm.

Therefore, Leica has recommended the use of special Leica UV/IR filters. Together with coded lenses, this new firmware version corrects this problem.
