Sanyo has introduced its second-generation waterproof camcorder to US market.

The Xacti E2 offers high-quality MPEG-4 video as well as 8-megapixel stills. It can be used underwater to a depth of five feet for up to one hour at a time.

As the E2 is designed to operate with just one hand, it makes it easy to use when skiing or snowboarding, at the beach or doing watersports - and you don't have to worry about it getting wet.

Not only that, the E2 is small enough to carry around with you too so you can capture all your favourite moments on dry land too.

You can capture up to 2000 pictures or 8 full hours of smooth 60fps video by using up to an 8GB SDHC memory card. Other features include 5x optical zoom, Face Chaser technology for both photo and video, a 2.5-inch screen and continuous shooting at 5fps (in 2mp mode, this drops to 1fps at 8mp).

The Sanyo Xacti E2 is available now in America either in brilliant blue or pearlescent white at $399.99 (around £200). No news on European release dates or prices as yet, but we'll get it to you when we have it.
