Kenro has announced the UK release of a new macro lens from Tokina, available with either a Canon or Nikon mount. The AT-X M35 PRO DX has a close focusing distance of 5.5 inches (14cm) yielding a macro ratio of 1:1 - life-sized reproduction. When used on digital SLR cameras the new lens gives the same angle of view as a 52mm lens.
The lens is lightweight at just 340 grams, making it easy to cart around with the rest of your kit, and the wide f/2.8 aperture allows for easier viewing in low light situations.
The front element of the lens has a newly formulated WR or ‘Water Repellent’ optical coating on the glass. This new coating means that blemishes left by water or fingerprints are much easier to clean than with a standard multi-coating.
The M35 also boasts Tokina’s exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism. This feature allows you to switch between Auto Focus and Manual Focus by simply snapping the focus ring forward for Auto and back towards the camera to focus manually. There is no need to change the AF-MF switch on Nikon cameras and there is no second AF/MF switch on the lens for Canon, everything is accomplished by the focus ring.
The lens is available now, and will set your back £369.99. Accessories
