Sigma has released a price for its new 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM lens.

The large aperture prime lens will retail for £379.99 and with a standard focal length of 50mm, it is ideal for all digital SLRs.

The lens is suited for a wide range of subjects enabling sharply defined images against a nicely blurred background.

Features include the optimum optical design and molded glass aspherical lens elements, which provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations, while the multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting.

It has a minimum focusing distance of 45cm (17.7") and has maximum magnification of 1:7.4. The lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focus override.

The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM lens will be available in the UK from June.
