Tamron offers trio of lenses for Nikon mounts

Tamron is to offer an 18-200mm, 17-50mm and 70-300mm lens in a Nikon mount.

The trio are claimed to be suitable for Nikon camera bodies without in-body focus motors - namely the D40, D40x and D60 DSLRs.

The 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 and 17-50mm f/2.8 optics are for APS-C sized sensors only but the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 will cover 24x36mm sensors.

The Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di II has a maximum aperture of f/3.5-6.3 and a minimum aperture of f/22.

Constructed from 15 elements in 13 groups, it also delivers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.7 and a minimum focus distance of 0.45m.

It is 73.8x83.7mm and weighs 405g.

Next up is the Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II, which has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and a minimum aperture of f/32.

Other key specs include its maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.5 and minimum focus distance of 0.27m over the entire zoom range.

This lens is 74.0x81.7mm and weighs 434g.

The final launch is the Tamron AF 70-300MM F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro, with its maximum aperture of f/4-5.6 and minimum aperture of f/32.

It is built from 13 elements in 9 groups and has nine aperture blades.

Its minimum focus distance is 1.5m in normal setting and 0.95m in macro mode.

This last optic is 76.6x116.5mm and weighs 458g.

No prices as yet, nor a UK release date, but we'll keep you posted.
