PMA is kicking off tomorrow in Las Vegas and already many of the Spring's biggest camera and photo accessories launches have been unveiled. But there are sure to be some surprises including today's announcement by Pentax that it is currently developing three new lenses.
On display at the tradeshow will be two new additions to Pentax’s DA lens range - the smc Pentax-DA 55mm and smc Pentax-DA 60–250mm.
Both boast a supersonic motor for quieter auto-focusing.
The 55mm optic is a uni-focal moderate-telephoto lens offering a focal length equivalent to 84.5mm in the 35mm format.
The second DA lens, the 60-250mm optic, is also a telephoto zoom lens covering moderate to super-telephoto ranges, with focal lengths equivalent to 92mm-383mm in the 35mm format.
They are claimed to be best suited to landscape, action or wildlife photography.
The smc Pentax-DA 17-70mm is the third lens under development.
It is a standard zoom lens that includes a SDM system offering super-quiet, extra-smooth auto focus operation and is designed exclusively for Pentax DSLR cameras.
With a 4.1-times zoom ratio and focal lengths equivalent to 26mm to 107mm in the 35mm format, this lens is claimed to be an all-rounder.
Both the smc Pentax-DA 60-250mm and smc Pentax-DA 17-70mm are due to be launched this summer.
The launch date of the smc Pentax-DA 55mm is still to be confirmed. Cameras
