Olympus updates flash of SP-560UZ

Compact given wireless flash ability

14 December 2007 12:10 GMT / By Katie Scott

Owners of Olympus's 8-megapixel digital compact, the SP-560UZ, can now download an update supporting wireless flash capabilities.

Firmware version 3.1 allows the camera to wirelessly control multiple Olympus flash units including the FL-50R and FL-36R.

The camera's built-in flash is used to communicate between the camera and the external flash units.

Olympus says that while there is no limit to the number of wireless flashes you can use, it recommends that no more than three flash units should be used "to prevent flash malfunction due to mutual interference".

The update is available to download as part of the Olympus Master 2 software package.
