Tamron adds focus power to Superzoom

Lens gets an update

6 December 2007 12:03 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Tamron has updated its 18-250mm superzoom lens.

The new optic is aimed squarely at owners of Nikon's D40 and D40x DSLRs as it boasts an in-built focus motor (these two cameras do not offer mechanical focus coupling). But it will fit any camera with an APS-C sized sensor.

In build, the AF18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical IF lens is practically identical to its predecessor offering, most importantly, a 13.9x zoom capability.

Tamron says that the lens will go on sale in Japan on 13 December but has yet to reveal availability for the rest of the world or pricing.

We will keep you updated.
