Aside from the launch of the E-410, Olympus has also announced the launch of the E-510, a camera virtually identical on the spec sheet apart from the addition of an image stabiliser in-camera.The new camera, announced just days before PMA will feature Olympus' Live View offering, that allows photographers to frame their shot on the 2.5-inch LCD display at the rear of the camera rather than having to rely on an optical viewfinder.
The camera will support Olympus' Four Thirds system and offer 10 megapixels via a "professional-grade" Live MOS sensor.
Like the E410, the E-510 is clearly aimed at the prosumer rather than the professional, in addition to offering adjustable exposure options, including full manual control, the E-410 features 28 consumer-friendly shooting modes are on board for ease-of-use in all manner of situations. These range from Portrait and Macro to Underwater Wide, Underwater Macro and xD Panorama.
Users have a choice of data storage options: both CompactFlash and xD-Picture Cards can be used with the E-510, which allows even those upgrading from Olympus compact cameras to continue using their existing cards.
A Supersonic Wave Filter for dust protection, Built-in pop-up flash, 3fps with up to seven images in RAW buffer, One touch white balance, AF-lock functionality, Depth of field preview function, 49 segment digital ESP, Exposure bracketing function, Beginners’ and advanced info screen, Detailed playback info screen with histogram complete the offering.
E-System will become available in June 2007. Cameras
