Forever, ever, forever, ever?

Want your pictures to last till 2507? Thought so, and so does ILFORD, who has announced that it is to present a long-term archival 500 years plus recording film at CeBIT 2007 in Hannover next month.

Although we aren't quiet sure how they've tested it - perhaps they've got a time machine - the company says that it will showcase its ILFORD MICROGRAPHIC FILM, a unique archival recording film capable of storing both optical and digital data for over 500 years, using the new long-term archiving standard.

The pioneering archival system is based on a number of features including an Innovative RGB laser exposure and a high resolution colour microfilm that records up to 300 lines/mm.

More details next month.

We will keep you posted.
