Linksys Bluetooth USB adapter brings Bluetooth to the masses

6 April 2004 11:11 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Linksys today announced a Bluetooth USB Adapter (USBBT100) that allows you to connect laptops or desktop Pcs with popular devices such as mobile telephones, PDAs and printers. The adapter is compact and portable.

The adapter enables the connection of up to seven Bluetooth 1.1 compatible devices simultaneously. There is no need for an external power supply since the adapter is powered directly from the USB port. Like all Bluetooth devices, the adapter uses 28-bit encryption and "frequency hopping" for data security. The Bluetooth USB Adapter is a Class 1 Bluetooth device, which is designed to allow communication at up to 100 metres.

The USB Bluetooth Adapter is available immediately and will cost £49.99
