In what DigiTimes is stating is the first overseas launch for the format, a CBHD player, the TCL-made THBD-1008, has been launched to consumers in the UK.

As many of you will know, CBHD, or China Blue High-Definition Disc is the Chinese answer to Blu-ray and it's expected potential customers here in the UK will be Chinese speakers keen to see high-def content in their native language.

The new player, on sale now through GBAX for £259.99, comes complete with 14 movies, some Hollywood titles and some Chinese-language films and works perfectly with UK voltage.

Hit play on the video above from GBAX which offers an informal un-boxing and intro to the new device as well as a slightly surreal finish.
