Sandberg has announced the new USB CD Mini Reader, a budget offering available through Amazon in the UK.

Aimed at owners of netbooks that typically don't offer an optical drive for size and cost reasons, the portable CD reader connects up to your PC via USB and offers basic CD reading functionality.

With no need for additional software, the device is bus-powered and offers CD read speeds of 24x.

Measurements are slimline at 1.7 x 13.3 x by 13.7cm and the unit weighs in at 475 grams. Complete with a 5-year warranty, it's on sale now for £29.99.
