Sky+HD box sold every 30 seconds

New high-def moving channel launching this month

23 October 2009 10:39 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Sky has announced that the number of homes with Sky+HD has increased to 1.6 million while 6 million get just Sky+.

Throughout July, August and September Sky saw a new Sky+HD customer on average every 30 seconds with 287,000 customers signed up during this period - apparently a threefold increase on the same period of the previous year.

Sky has also announced a new film channel to launch on its service. "Movies Indie HD", a channel "devoted to screening the best in independent film", will be added to the channel line-up from Monday 26 October.

This will take the total of HD channels available to 35, which is 28 more than any other UK TV platform, Sky says.
