As many of you will know, Google uses a trike to snap Street View imagery in areas inaccessible by car. Now, in the US, as it did in the UK, the web giant has democratised the process of deciding which will be the next off-road places to be captured, by asking the American public to make suggestions.

"We're announcing the opportunity for users to directly give us their suggestions for the off-the-beaten-path & pedestrian-only locations they'd like to see featured in Street View on Google Maps, says Google.

Locations can be nominated within six categories - parks and trails, university campuses, theme parks and zoos, "pedestrian malls", landmarks and sports venues. Nominations will be open until 28 October and can be submitted at www.google.com/trike.
