Google appears to be testing a new interface for its front page for some users. Its famous word count limit of 28 has been reduced to zero with a page that hides everything except for the logo and search box until you move your mouse across it.

There's two versions that have been spotted - one with the "Google Search" and "I'm Feeling Lucky" buttons, and one without. The latter is depicted in the video above. Google appears to just be testing the page with a handful of users, so if you can't see it, then that'll be why.

Don't get too attached, because it's entirely possible that the test will never see a mainstream rollout. Do you like it? Do you hate it? Why? Share your thoughts on the great disappearing act in the comments.

Update: This appears (no pun intended) to be showing up for UK users now, too, complete with barcode Google logo.
