Win a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic

Just comment on a story for a chance to win

5 October 2009 15:30 GMT / By Ben Crompton

First off, as far as the winner for last month goes, we'd like to offer our congratulations to Tony Hedges for his comment on the HTC Hero review and all his input during its release. We'll be sending him a TomTom XL Live IQ Routes Europe.

For the month of October Pocket-lint has teamed up with Omio to bring you the chance of winning a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic.

The phone features a 2.9-inch touch interface and a homescreen that offers one touch shortcuts to the likes of Facebook and MySpace, and as with similar Nokia phones, the 5530 gets the scrolling "Contacts Bar" for direct access to 20 people and their latest conversations and updates.

Being an XpressMusic model playback is all important and it doesn't disappoint with up to 27 hours of playback time, as well as a 3.2-megapixel camera along with Wi-Fi rounding off the package.

If you're weren't sure of what Omio is all about, here's a quick run down in their own words:

“Omio.com is a mobile phone comparison site that uses an innovative interface to help users navigate the vast array of mobile phone deals and phones from all the major mobile manufacturers".

"Users can filter over half a million deals by anything from price to colours, ensuring they get the right deal at the right price. Whether you’re looking for a new phone or simply want to research what’s available, Omio.com offers the most up-to-date information".

The rules of the competition are simple, you can enter as many times as you like by simply commenting on any story. It doesn't have to be in depth, detailed or technical, but it does have to be useful, helpful or funny.

You don't have to sign up to comment on the stories, we just ask for your name, location and email address - that does not show up online and is not passed on.

So get commenting and the winner will be chosen at the end of October.

  • thanks for the free nokia 5530 phone Posted by Anderson, USA
  • fantastic prize!!! my son has one of these and loves it, I am trying to get him to sell it to me for £100 and my spare sony erricson i890, and he wont budge lol. I had a samsung omnia and swapped it for a dogue de bordeaux puppy, and am now missing it like mad, the omnia had too many applications for me, although an excellent phone, this nokia is right up my street for what i need, seen it in action and its a must have! • Before buying Nokia 5530, check this link… it is recommended to wait till Nokia releases the latest firmware.

    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&thread.id=156140&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

I wish Nokia will justify its delay in releasing this phone in India after fixing all those bugs discussed in the above discussion board.

  • I have read in web sites everyone suggesting that this phone does not have 3G and should be avoided. My question is when there is no 3G facility available in all cities and even if it available it is costs too much. So, I recommend Nokia 5530 for its features and its looks.
I am still waiting for this phone to be available in Indian stores. It is really disappointing to see that Nokia has not made available this phone in India. Even the Nokia dealers or Nokia stores has no idea when it will be available here.

But I am determined to wait as long as possible till then I will manage with my ailing Nokia 6021.

  • The 5530 is fantastic value for money, considering that it's only £235 SIM-free on Nokia's website. You'd be hard pressed to find something as slim and attractive, with the power of S60v5, for that kind of price from any other manufacturer... Posted by Timothy Jeffcoat, UK
  • I have enjoyed owning a Nokia N95-3. My first encounter with Nokia was two years ago during holiday on an Italian cruise. The ship's tech store had the N95 on display. I knew Nokia products were special when I found it difficult walking away from the N95. Several European travelers aboard the cruise already had Nokia phones and raved about them. Once I returned, I ordered my Nokia and have been an unlocked Nokia cell phone fan ever since.
    Time for an upgrade to my new Nokia 5530... p l e a s e ?
I look forward to hearing those winning words...it's yours !

  • It now almost confirmed that Nokia will NOT release this phone in India in near future. Even the Nokia dealers here in Bangalore have no clue about this phone release date.

In Nokia's Indian website for Diwali offers Nokia 5530 phone is not included but all the other phones are included. :(

All these days I was waiting for this phone. Nokia failed to keep its promise. It said this phone will be available for purchase during the first week of Oct 2009, but now it doesn't have any idea or even say when this phone will be released.

    Nokia cheated India. :( :(

But my choice is still Nokia 5530 and I am sure I will get it!!

  • When this phone came out, I though it had a better design than 5800 (and yes it does), but then i found out about the specs and I was a bit let down. No 3g? However, on the whole I think it's a decent device and I wouldn't ming winning it! :) Posted by NanaK, Ghana

  • For those that are skeptical of its durability, I know that Nokia phones always last forever! I've accidently dropped my nokia 5310 a few times, but that never compromised its integrity.

    I would LOVE this phone!

  • I love Nokia phones as they are really dependable and the last few months nokia has launched some of the sleekest and most awesome phones. Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is one of them. Itt is one of the best looking phones and it obviously has awesome music features too. The camera is quite nice too.

However I am sure that I will get this phone. No matter whatever happens I will be the owner of Nokia 5530 by Nov 2009. This phone is the one that I have been waiting for a long time and I am determined that I lay my hands on this lovely very soon :)

  • Nokia 5530 is a great deal. One touch shortcuts would never disappoint me especially when in need of a quick browse using its Wifi. I can even listen to music for more than a day with its 27 hrs. playback time. I hope I'll win this phone, and if not, maybe I will get one from Omio where I can select a phone from every choice that I need like phone color which is not present with the other shopping sites. • Even without 3G and GPS its still a dropdead georgeous phone....besides who need 3G ang GPS in India:-)....wanna get for Chrismas present,if it is release in India by then Posted by Saia, India
  • Every day I dream of owning this lovely Nokia 5530. Still today it remains as a dream and the reason for my dream not fulfilled is because Nokia does not want its Indian customers get hold of it.

I think Nokia might be waiting to fix all the bugs and hardware issues with this phone and then release in India. I know Nokia Cares.

Whatever may be the reason I am sure that I will own this beauty VERY SOON!!!

  • Sleek, stylish, and trendy - those are the right words to describe the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic phone. It performs exceptionally in the music department. It also covers the standard features one would expect in a modern mobile decently. It can even be at par with some of the smart phones in the market out there.

It's going to be perfect for a student like me, one that wants to stay in touch with his friends online, wherever he goes, and catches up with the latest hits. Its features are nothing to scoff at. What more could you ask for?

Nokia indeed does live up to its reputation of being the world's largest - and best - phone manufacturer.

    "Xpressing" my gratitude... :)
