Nokia has announced the launch of the new Nokia 2705 Shade on Verizon Wireless in the US.

The 2705 Shade is described as a compact flip phone with "a large display on one of the smallest devices available at Verizon Wireless".

The handset is due to be available initially as an online exclusive and customers will have the option of purchasing the phone with or without a 1.3-megapixel camera.

Specs we know about include Bluetooth, text, picture and voice messaging capabilities, up to 300 minutes talktime, Verizon's VZ Navigator-capabilities with Xpress-On covers available as an extra.

The Nokia Shade (with camera) will be available online from 6 October for $29.99 with a new 2-year customer agreement.
