Avid offers Pro Tools Essentials packages

Inexpensive software/hardware bundles

30 September 2009 16:03 GMT / By Duncan Geere

Avid, the company behind Pro Tools music software, has announced three bundles that combine the company's software wing with its hardware division - M-Audio. There's Pro Tools Vocal Studio, Pro Tools Recording Studio and Pro Tools KeyStudio.

Each combines a basic, cut-down version (Pro Tools Essentials) of the normally-very-expensive Pro Tools app with useful music hardware. There's one that comes with a USB microphone, one that comes with a FastTrack audio interface, and one that includes a USB keyboard that'll also function as a MIDI controller.

The idea is to make music production and home studios considerably more affordable, and given that each of these packages run to £80, it looks like that goal isn't far away. All will be available from the middle of September.
