BenQ has announced a range of high-definition projectors for use in the home, which it says it's targeting at "tech-savvy home theater enthusiasts and content-conscious home entertainment fans". If you're feeling content-conscious, then you might be interested in the W600, W1000, and W6000.
W6000
Starting at the high-end, the W6000 has a full 1080p display, 50,000:1 contrast ratio and 2500 ANSI Lumens of brightness. It can do a bit of upscaling if you plug in a low-resolution source, like a 480p Wii, for example, and also has Texas Instruments' DynamicBlack and Philips' VIDI lamp technology.
There's also 10-bit processing, and a horizontal and vertical lens shift option and 1.5:1 zoom. BenQ says that it's "intended to be installed", so it has ISF certified configuration and can even pump out 2.35:1 aspect ratio with an optional Panamorph lens. It costs £2500, and it should be out within weeks.
W1000
Then there's the W1000. This is a full 1080p HD projector that comes equipped with a 6-segment colour wheel, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and 2000 ANSI Lumens of brightness. It has a top-access lamp door, too, and double HDMI inputs. It costs £1000 and will be available from 1 November.
W600
Lastly, there's the W600, which is the cheapest in the range. It doesn't do full HD - only 720p, but it does have the 6-segment colour wheel, dual HDMI ports, and various colour technologies of the W1000. It can pump out 2000 ANSI lumens of brightness with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and costs just £500. It'll also be showing up on 1 November.
