MediaPhone has announced "SmartScreen", an app for the iPhone and iPod touch that "will allow informational widgets to be placed and used on the lock screen".

Sound good? The bad news is it won't be available through the App Store and will only be offered for sale to those with jailbroken handsets, with an SDK for developers due to be released in November.

In a video above, frankly only enhanced by the pink nails and the lounge soundtrack, MediaPhone gives us a quick demo.
