With that summertime launch timescale slipping away, TomTom has issued an official statement about the price of its coming soon car kit that will work alongside the iPhone app.

The iPhone app, currently available through the iTunes App Store, costs £60, while the car kit has now been price properly (as opposed to by retailers grabbing at publicity) at £99.99. It won't go on sale until next month.

The car kit includes a mount, enhanced GPS receiver, power cables and built in speaker, along with an audio-out jack and microphone to allow you to use it as Bluetooth speakerphone.

TomTom says: "The TomTom car kit will be available this October and will be sold separately from the TomTom app. It will be compatible with the iPhone 2G, 3G and 3GS".

Further details on the car kit will be made available soon - we will keep you posted.
