Losing a little weight does wonders to the bank balance according to electronics giant Sony as the company confirmed it has shifted over 1 million PS3 slim consoles in the last three weeks since its relaunch.

The news, announced at the Toyko Games Show in Japan, means the redesigned console has sold almost 50,000 units a day in the last 21 days around the world.

The new console, which saw a price drop to £250 in the UK and $299 in the US, features a 120GB hard drive, Blu-ray player and a slimmer smaller form factor.
