Pentax announced the launch of the K-x digital SLR camera on Thursday morning and by nightfall we'd bagged a model to get down and dirty with.

The new camera, which unfortunately we weren't able to use for any sample shots, is small, solid and light in the hand.

Priced at £600 for the camera and a 18-55mm lens, the K-x is the follow-on model to the K-m, so falls into the entry-level category, and is due to go on sale this month.

  • Have been a pentax user since the K100D/super. Bought a K10D and was happy with that camera. Bought a K20D and found it too noisy. Have good range and quality pentax and sigma lenses. Did not want to go to the K7. But now I can change my dslr every 12 months with this body and its future versions. I will wait to see if the noise problem still exists with the new cmos sensor. I also own a fuji S100fs (the best walkabout camera you will ever use), and Ricoh G100SX, the best pocket camera you could ever own. If pentax and Ricoh combine I will be very happy.
