Xbox 360 getting 802.11n Wi-Fi adaptor

Passes FCC approval

The Xbox 360 will shortly be getting an upgrade to its plug-in Wi-Fi adaptor, if an FCC filing is to be believed. The £60 module is being pumped up to 802.11n-standard wireless networking capability.

What that means is more range, more power, and more antennas (two, rather than one) when it comes to attaching your console to your home network. Of course, to get the benefit you'll need an n-compatible router, too.

There's no pricing information yet, but the "Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter" is unlikely to cost less than its b/g grandaddy, which fans have long-slated as overpriced and under performing. It remains to be seen whether the same will be true of the new dongle.
