In the States, Apple's "Apple TV" home cinema product has seen a dramatic price cut.

Apple has discontinued the 40GB model from the line-up, leaving only the 160GB option, but cut the price by $100 down to $229.

Apple TV, once famously described by Apple boss Steve Jobs as a "hobby" product, is still offered in 40GB and 160GB capacities on the UK Apple store for £195 and £263.

We will keep you posted with an update as and when the UK store is refreshed.

UPDATE: The UK store is now showing just the 160GB version, now priced at £219.
