The BBC has revealed some of the high def programming that viewers can look forward to this autumn.

In a blog post, the broadcaster has run down the forthcoming HD highlights stating that returning to the channel at weekends are Strictly Come Dancing and the Antiques Roadshow.

There are also debuts for Hole in the Wall, Countryfile, Waterloo Road and The Thick of It.

Boasting "a range of new comedy", such programming includes BBC Two's Home Time, and series two of Beautiful People and BBC Three's Lunch Monkeys. There's also How Not to Live Your Life, as well as the channel's new horror title Harper's Island.

Other programmes marked for HD output include Life, Land Girls, Crash, the Electric Proms, Lost Land of the Volcano, Emma, The Art of Russia, the Doctor Who specials, animation series Dreamland, and the next Sarah Jane Adventures.

Kids get Shaun the Sheep and new Justin Fletcher (aka Mr Tumble) series, Gigglebiz, described as "a bit like Little Britain for under 6s".
