Samsung goes slim and light with the ST45 compact

A mid-range snapper for the style and pocket space conscious

4 September 2009 15:00 GMT / By Dan Sung

While all the world's gone AV, Samsung has announced the arrival of an ultra light and slim compact camera known as the ST45. It has a 12-megapixel sensor, 2.7-inch, 230k-colour QVGA screen and a brushed aluminium chassis.

The whole device is just 16mm thick but still comes with a fair clutch of features including a 5x zoom, face, blink, smile and beauty detections, 11 scene modes as well as a smart scene selector if you're not very good at that sort of thing.

It has a self-portrait mode and framing guide with ghost image to help either you or someone you've coerced into taking your picture to get the results you're after. All that at an ISO of 3200 for better snaps in low light conditions.

The ST45 will be out later this month and comes in a choice of red, black, blue and grey. Price as soon as we get it.
