Samsung goes ultra-slim with X520, X420 and X120 notebooks

IFA 2009: 9 hours of battery life and no thicker than a pound

Samsung has bridged the gap between its netbooks and notebooks today with the launch of the ultra-thin X-Series at IFA 2009. The X520, X420 and X120 have high gloss, HD, 16:9 LED screens, will run for up to 9 hours on their 6-cell batteries and are no thicker than a pound coin.

As ever with such portable machines, design is a key factor, so each features a silver chrome finish as well as back up from connectivity in the shape of high speed wireless LAN, Bluetooth 2.1, three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port and a 3-in-1 memory card reader as well as an integrated webcam and 2 x 1.5W speakers.

The X120, X420 and X520 come in 11.6-inch, 14-inch and 15.6-inch screen sizes respectively and weigh 1.36kg, 1.76kg and 2.09kg. They each run on 2-4GB of RAM with integrated GPUs and you can opt for between 160-500GB of SATA storage.

The X120 is out this month with the other two to follow in October.
