Carphone Warehouse gets Dell Inspiron 11z

Before Dell UK itself does

The Carphone Warehouse has announced that it will be the UK's first retailer to sell the new Dell Inspiron 11z not-netbook. A deal with The Phone House sees a similar arrangement in France.

The new Dell Inspiron 11z follows the trend of recent manufacturers, offering an 11.6-inch screen with a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution.

Dell boasts that the new Inspiron 11z has all the power of a regular laptop and all the portability of a netbook. With an Intel Celeron 723 ULV processor at its core that might be a bit of a stretch, but the 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive will certainly be welcomed.

With all the usual connectivity on offer, including HDMI, the Dell Inspiron 11z only seems to be lacking the 3G modem to make it totally connected on the move. Dell claim "nearly" 6 hours of battery life on the move from the six cell battery.

The Inspiron 11z is available from Carphone Warehouse before it has appeared on Dell's own UK website, for a price of £399, or free with a £35 per month, 2-year T-Mobile contract.
