TomTom GO x50 LIVE series hits the road

IFA 2009: Navigation through tunnels and live traffic updates

3 September 2009 9:40 GMT / By Dan Sung

The TomTom GO x50 LIVE series has launched with a range of three satnav devices housing more maps, more options and more services to spend £7.99 per month on than the last time.

The GO 950, 750 and 550 offer fully customisable interfaces with the routes calculated by the IQ system which bases its suggestions on the historical metrics of road speeds from millions of drivers. With the addition of the LIVE service, you also get up to date real-time traffic information that changes as you drive and works by tracking the mobile phone signals of other TomTom motorists.

The devices have new menus for calculating eco-friendly routes and improving on frequently travelled journeys. The 950 comes with EPT for uninterrupted navigation when driving through tunnels and both it and the 750 have pre-installed maps of 45 countries. The 550 has just the UK and Republic of Ireland. The series comes out this autumn.
