Sony Ericsson intros easy SDK for X2 software

IFA 2009: The Xperia looks to attract apps with its own ideas

2 September 2009 17:58 GMT / By Dan Sung

Sony Ericsson is releasing a special SDK to go with the Xperia X2 to encourage developers to make apps for the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform.

The Panel SDK is designed as a more simplified and direct method for programmers to make their software accessible on a more eye-catching interface as well as provide a quick route for apps already written in Java, Flash and on WinMob 6.5.

The kit's Panelizer converts the pre-written apps into Panels for the X2 as a low cost solution and offers a easy route to market in the Sony Ericsson market place, the PlayNow arena, which is available in over 18 countries.

There are no annual subscriptions once the SDK is bought, developers will receive a 70% split of the profits and the maximum approval period will be a standard 30 days.
