2 September 2009 17:25 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Sony has shown a new netbook sporting an 11-inch screen and intel Atom processor at its press event to kick off IFA in Berlin, Germany.

The new model dubbed the Vaio X is still light on details however will be housed in a carbon fibre shell making it around 700 grams in weight.

Thanks to the inclusion of that Atom processor, Sony says the battery will last you all day.

No details on when it will hit the shops or how much you will have to pay, but expect it to be expensive.

UPDATE: Sony has told Pocket-lint that the new laptop should be in shops this Autumn, which theoretically is now.
