Sony has announced that version 10 of its Sound Forge digital audio production suite is now available. The upgrade brings with it a number of new features, including event-based editing, 64-bit sample rate conversion, and the élastique Pro timestretch/pitch shift plug-in.

It's also got new customisable window layouts, editing of metadata, performance optimisations, and a number of interactive tutorials to teach you how to use the software. Disc-at-once cd burning has been added, for easier creation of replication premasters, and there's also Musical instrument file processing.

Sony reckons all this means that the program offers "a powerful and flexible audio production environment, increasing workflow and efficiency while consistently delivering pristine audio quality".

Sound Forge Pro 10 is available right now worldwide, and comes in English and Japanese editions. Sony says that the suggested retail price is £380, though it's currently on their site for £330. Either way, if you're an amateur (or a pro one, for that matter) and you fancy giving it a shot, then start saving up.
